About

Breadfruit. predominantly showcases the creative writing of women (cis & trans) and non-binary people who identify as part of the Global Majority, and was founded by Caribbean-British writer, Olivia Simone, in 2022.

Through our online platform, events, and feature projects, Breadfruit. champions the voices and words of the lesser-heard, and builds a counter-space where womxn and non-binary people from the global majority can come together to create, experiment, and learn.

Our writers are from all over the world, consisting of artists, educators, activists, performers, healers, and more - each sharing with us their unique perspective and thus highlighting that, while we may have shared experiences, we are far from monolithic.

Global Majority

Global Majority refers to people who are African, Asian, Black, Brown, dual-heritage, and indigenous to the global south. Globally these groups represent approximately eighty per cent (80%) of the world's population, making them the global majority.
