Abigail Tucker

(She/Her)

Abigail Tucker is a 19-year-old student originally from Oxford and currently studying English literature with Creative writing at Goldsmiths University of London.

Inspired by Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, and Audre Lorde, Abigail believes that poetry is a cathartic form of expression that Black people have long used to express and display parts of themselves to others, sharing not only communal but individual experiences as people of colour. Shortlisted for the Penguin lit in colour: Creative student prize, she is an aspiring young writer who, as she evolves, aims to pour her experiences into her writing in order to form meaningful connections with those who engage with it. Abigail comes from an African-Caribbean background and therefore her culture also bleeds into her writing, enabling her to contribute to the wide range of narratives voiced by Black female writers.
